We offer the following consulting services primarily to creative businesses, artists, and nonprofit organizations.
OVERVIEW OF SERVICES
Unlock Creative, a certified minority-owned consulting firm is designed to offer coaching, professional development, and business management services to creative and artistic nonprofits and for-profit businesses. Our mission is to nurture, grow, and sustain Black creative leadership. We Unlock Vision, Maximize Impact, and Harness the Power of your Team. We help arts and culture non-profit and for-profit institutions amplify their artistic work by developing and implementing administrative infrastructure to work more efficiently and effectively to decrease cost and increase revenue.
We define the creative sector broadly as the arts, entertainment industry, and nonprofit sector and are inclusive but not limited to visual arts, theater, dance, film, music, and culture bearing. Creatives interested may define their artistry as graphic design, animation, music composition, production, songwriting, sound engineering, storytelling, museum management, costume design, lighting design, opera, fashion design, or technical direction.
Search & Transition
We offer management of human centered transitions including job search, recruitment and placement. Our signature searches include the Welcome with Care and the Full Circle Beloved transition. We work with staff and Board of Directors to execute searches that honor the values of the organization. We produce candidate pools that are reflective of the host organization’s community and our national network of black creatives.
Assessment
We offer operations, financial and security assessments in partnership with Black women owned Carter Financial Services and Black veteran owned Sentient Security Firm for non-profit organizations and businesses. Assessments include a full review of current administrative and financial practices, policies, tools, and systems used. We identify threats, opportunities, solutions, recommendations, and provide a roadmap to shore up organizational infrastructure.
Arts Administration
We offer customized, high-quality management of projects in the creative and nonprofit sectors in an ethical and values-based manner. We offer support services to organizations on an as-needed basis with arts administration and management. We will customize a proposal and scope of work that fits the needs of your organization or project, while also delivering hyper-customized, strategic solutions.

Customized review and enhancement of policies, practices, and workplace norms

Coaching of leaders within the organization, including managers, executives, and operations team members
Organizational Infrastructure
Design and implementation of organizational infrastructure through:
Support transition from in-person to remote working
Support organizations with a mixed team of in-person and remote staff
Automate, navigate, and implement work plans
Grantmaking & Management
Guide grantseekers and grantmakers in philanthropic efforts through:
Support grant seekers in drafting grant narratives and submitting applications
Support organizations with the design, implementation, and execution of new and existing funds
Create structures and systems to manage the relations with grantees during the award period
Team Coaching & Professional Development
We work with corporations, non-profits, and foundations to identify leadership gaps and opportunities for their black and people of color team members. Through our individual coaching and Creative Flowers Professional Development Cohort program, we support these professionals to navigate their environment, build their personal career trajectory which supports them to be more effective in their roles with the company, and identify paths to advance move within the organization.

Our signature offering of Creative Flowers programs is our Professional Sistah Circle. The professional Sistah Circle is a 1-month cohort building program where women in an intimate virtual or physical space will meet weekly to build relationships with one another and explore aspects of the creative sector. The Sistah Circle has a core curriculum but is meant to be tailored to best serve each individual cohort. Sistah Circles show up across locations and disciplines. Creative Flowers are even customized in partnership with organizations and collectives. We are building a movement from the ground up. Learn more about Creative Flowers here.
